Dominik K. Don is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Transformation Services in Munich. He specializes in operations, strategy, and performance improvement transformations in the oil and gas, chemicals, and adjacent industries. 

With approximately 20 years of experience, Mr. Don’s expertise spans strategic M&A, growth and business model studies, and operational and digital performance transformations, including supply chain optimization and reliability and maintenance improvements. He has successfully set up a strategic partnership with a digital solutions provider to help clients unlock the full value potential from digital transformations. Mr. Don has worked across Europe and in Colombia, India, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and the US.

Drawing on his extensive experience, Mr. Don has led numerous impactful projects across the globe. For example, he supported the international expansion efforts for a European refining company from target screening, to developing the new operating model, and managing the integration journey. Mr. Don also developed an initial public offering corporate business plan to raise valuation and designed and implemented a corporate performance turnaround transformation program for a Middle Eastern fuel retailer. He also performed downstream refining diagnostics at multiple assets of an oil company, focusing on margin optimization, operational excellence, and maintenance execution. 

Mr. Don benchmarked a major Indian oil company’s refinery planning and scheduling activities, identifying potential optimization and synergy opportunities for the overall business model. In response to the energy transition, he designed a future operating model and organizational structure for an integrated European oil company, providing strategic options for the client’s future setup. Furthermore, he identified $500 million in optimization potential for a southern hemisphere energy company by optimizing its green ammonia mega-project and guided the merger management process to establish a leading European oil and gas upstream player.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Don was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company and a Senior Manager at Accenture’s Global Energy Industry group. His projects focused on downstream industry strategy, manufacturing excellence, operating model design, and operations transformations. He is a regular speaker at international industry conferences such as the Latin American Refining Technology Conference (LARTC), the European Refining Technology Conference (ERTC), OPTIMIZE, and the Sustainability Strategy Summit.

Mr. Don earned an MBA from EBS Universität in Oestrich-Winkel. A German national, he is fluent in German and English.
