Olivier Maltese is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Transformation Services in London and Paris. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) for large corporates. His primary areas of concentration are post-merger integration, carve-out, and transformation. With more than 25 years of advisory experience, Mr. Maltese has participated in and led multiple cross-border sell- and buy-side transactions valued from $50 million up to $20 billion.
Mr. Maltese’s notable assignments include the creation of Aventis Pharma, Airbus Zephyr (creation of risk sharing partners like Aerolia), Safran/L1ID-/GEPS-/Eaton, Alstom T&D, Sanofi (carve-out of R&D), Alstom/GE Signaling (leading the separation/integration initiatives, orchestrating three global platforms), and Engie/Powerlines (synergies capture planning).
Most recently, Mr. Maltese was responsible for the separation and transition phase planning of a global hospitality spin-off with a transformation element and led financial carve-out vendor assistance in the context of a multibillion spin-off in high-tech. He recently helped a European industrial-products company develop its 2040 strategic and transformation roadmap, supported an advanced-industrial group with the divestiture of a pan-European business unit, and worked with a software company to develop M&A IT/digital capabilities for all geographies and businesses.
Previously, Mr. Maltese helped a global aerospace player improve its M&A buy-side process via a comprehensive financial and operational post-mortem review that covered target screening, post-merger integration, and valuation for recently acquired software companies. He has worked with clients in various industries, including industrials, aerospace and defense, hospitality, healthcare, and high-tech.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Maltese spent 20 years with Deloitte and PwC in Paris and London, serving most recently as Partner. His previous leadership roles include creating and supporting the growth of Deloitte’s French M&A operations service line in all facets of its operations.
Mr. Maltese earned a master’s degree in finance and an executive certificate in strategy for completing the leveraging strategic partnerships program, executive education, IMD. A French national, he is fluent in English.
