Rick Kozole is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal and Leader of the Automotive & Industrials Group in Detroit. He specializes in complex, enterprise-wide restructuring and performance improvement in engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality and logistics. Mr. Kozole brings more than 25 years of consulting experience serving international clients across the automotive, aerospace and defense, and industrial sectors. He is recognized in his field as a proven leader who drives transformative cost and performance improvements for both healthy and distressed organizations.

Recently, Mr. Kozole led multiple initiatives to decrease cost and reduce risk for a private space company so it could achieve its launch and space objectives. This included the coordination of all functions to address issues in organizational structure, engineering and manufacturing, supply base development and IT systems.

Mr. Kozole also led multibillion-dollar, multi-year cost transformation initiatives for major aircraft, naval, land and space organizations and programs for the U.S. Department of Defense. In this role, he worked across all major programs and classes (fighters, aircraft carriers, submarines, weapons, satellites) and transformed the way departments approached affordability and speed in conjunction with the industrial base. His work resulted in billions in savings.

Additionally, Mr. Kozole led post-merger initiatives for a global automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM), delivering billions in savings across all key functional areas. In this role, he addressed an entire spectrum of issues including market entry strategies, capital planning, vehicle benchmarking, product planning and development, design cost reduction, strategic sourcing, lean manufacturing, service operations improvement, product and assembly process standardization, and warranty cost reduction. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Kozole was a Senior Partner at A.T. Kearney and led the firm’s Global Automotive, Aerospace/Defense, Transportation and Industrials group. There, he developed multiple organizational capabilities including product development and Manufacturing Centers of Excellence. 

Mr. Kozole earned a bachelor's degree in operations management from Michigan State University and an MBA from Notre Dame University.
