Nikos Arhos

Mr. Arhos assists clients in identifying and securing value through federal and state employment tax refunds and credits resulting from a wide array of transactional triggers, including M&A, restructuring, reorganizations, bankruptcy, and HRIS/payroll system transformations, among others. He also provides due diligence reviews, state and local payroll tax account registrations and de-registrations, state unemployment insurance experience transfer analysis and compliance, US payroll compliance outsourcing and co-sourcing support, and federal and state audit defense services.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Arhos spent 12 years with Ernst & Young, LLP in Chicago leading EY’s Chicago-based employment tax services team. He advised numerous fortune 500 companies across industry sectors on payroll and employment tax function optimization. His areas of practice included assessment and remediation of multistate employment tax withholding and reporting errors with respect to resident and non-resident wage and stock/equity/deferred compensation payments, due diligence and transaction support, and technology-enabled business travel and remote work program transformation.
Mr. Arhos earned a J.D. and an LLM in tax from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in the state of Illinois and served as a contributing editor of Principles of Payroll Administration, a Thomson Reuters/Research Institute of America textbook publication. He is a frequent guest speaker for the Chicago Bar Association, American Payroll Association, The Chicago Tax Club, and other organizations.
