Mitchell Beare is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Sydney. He specializes in Australian taxation matters for the real estate sector. His primary areas of concentration are income taxes as well as indirect taxes, such as the Goods and Service Tax (GST), stamp duties, and land taxes.

With more than 25 years of industry experience, Mr. Beare has advised on some of the largest real estate transactions in Australia. Mr. Beare’s notable transactions include market acquisitions of Australian real estate investment trusts (A-REITs), and the establishment of real estate and infrastructure funds.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Beare spent almost 15 years with Charter Hall Group in Sydney, where he most recently served as Head of Tax. During his time at Charter Hall, it grew to become the largest property owner in Australia, managing approximately $80 billion of real estate assets.

Mr. Beare earned bachelor’s degrees in commerce and arts and a master’s degree in international taxation, all from the University of Melbourne. Mr. Beare is a registered Tax Agent, admitted to Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and is a Chartered Tax Adviser with the Tax Institute of Australia. He is a member of the Income Tax Committee within the Property Council of Australia, having previously served as its Chair.
