Katya Umanskaya

Ms. Umanskaya has more than 20 years of experience as a tax advisor (and occasionally as an interim internal tax director) for public and privately held entities in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, energy, healthcare, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharma, and consumer products. Ms. Umanskaya brings a unique blend of multijurisdictional tax experience, an ability to translate complex ideas and transactions into practical steps for businesses, a knowledge of cross-functional dependencies, and an expertise in anticipating and managing stakeholders’ expectations, including C-suite executives. Her notable assignments include implementing a $2 billion carve-out and sale for a multinational group spanning approximately 40 countries.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Umanskaya spent 19 years as part of PwC’s Global Tax practice, working in Russia, Australia, and the US, the latter with PwC’s Deals and National Tax Accounting practices. As part of PwC’s National Tax Accounting practice, Ms. Umanskaya focused on complexities around accounting for income taxes under US GAAP and IFRS. Further, she provided support to engagement teams and clients regarding a range of complex tax accounting technical matters, including tax provision and reporting, accounting for uncertain tax positions, deferred tax analysis, and valuation allowance issues.
Ms. Umanskaya earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in tax from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, and a master’s degree in tax from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of California and Oregon.
