David A. Javdan is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Washington, D.C. and New York. As a former General Counsel of a federal financial agency overseeing 450 legal professionals in 70 cities and a Trustee of various venerated national and international institutions, he oversees some of A&M’s most consequential relationships, including large cap private equity firms, family offices, large corporates, governors, attorneys general, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and other federal Cabinet agencies.

Mr. Javdan has served in many high-stakes, high-profile roles, from successful human rights litigations at the U.S. Supreme Court to serving as a Special New York State Deputy Attorney General and Commissioner of the landmark Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption.

Before A&M, Mr. Javdan served as General Counsel of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He worked closely with the White House and Office of Management and Budget Counsel, the U.S. DOJ, various U.S. attorneys, inspectors general, Government Accountability Office auditors, and the General Counsels of various Cabinet departments. He supervised approximately 450 professionals in 70 offices and served as CEO of the legal department of an independent federal financial agency with a $125 billion loan and $30 billion venture capital portfolio (now over $1 trillion).

Mr. Javdan has served as a member of the Acquisition Advisory Panel, which reviews and proposes changes to U.S. federal procurement laws. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Department of Financial Services, a position to which he was confirmed unanimously by the New York State Senate. Previously, he served as Special Counsel to the New York State Senate on Holocaust and healthcare issues and on the Technical Advisory Committee on individual healthcare policy.

Mr. Javdan serves as a member of the National Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chairman of the Columbia College Fund, a member of the Columbia College Board of Visitors, a member of Fordham University School of Law’s Planning Council, a Rockefeller Fellow with the Partnership for New York City, a Director of the world’s oldest human rights agency, and a member of the Executive Committee of the New York Citizens Budget Commission. He has served as General Counsel of the JED Foundation, a national organization dedicated to helping prevent suicide among college students, and as a Board Member of Help Us Adopt.

Mr. Javdan earned a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
