Steven Fischoff is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services in Chicago. He specializes in the valuation of businesses and business interests, including equity interests, liabilities and debt, options and derivatives, intellectual property and other tangible and intangible assets.

Mr. Fischoff’s primary areas of concentration include providing opinions of value for financial reporting, tax planning and reporting, mergers and acquisitions and advising clients regarding the value impact of potential strategic alternatives. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including financial services, chemicals, steel, automotive, construction materials, industrial machinery, business and consumer services, food and beverage and healthcare.

With more than 25 years of valuation experience, Mr. Fischoff has provided independent opinions of value for many purposes, including acquisitions, divestitures, pre-transaction valuation analysis and advisory services, purchase price allocations, goodwill and asset impairments, formations of intellectual property holding companies, estate and gift taxes, mergers, litigation support, strategic planning and financing.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Fischoff served with American Appraisal Associates, where he most recently managed the firm’s Chicago Financial Valuation Group. Previously, he served as Senior Manager with Ernst & Young’s transaction advisory services and Analyst with Price Waterhouse’s valuation services.

Mr. Fischoff earned a BSBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. Additionally, he is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of Chicago, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a board member and past President of the Business Valuation Association of Chicago.
