Markus Eckey is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s European Financial Services Industry practice in Frankfurt. He specializes in working with financial institutions, corporates and private equity clients. His primary areas of concentration are corporate finance, capital markets and environmental, social and governance.

With more than 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Eckey has worked in many aspects of corporate finance and capital markets; infrastructure and energy transactions; setting up and reorganizing corporate structures; and restructuring a business. He advises clients on a broad range of topics related to transformation, optimization and growth strategies. 

Prior to joining A&M, Dr. Eckey spent 18 years with Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London. Most recently, he built up and headed a department to offer investment banking services to one of Deutsche Bank’s most important client groups (Family Businesses and UHNWI). His other notable assignments include managing the restructuring and sale of a BaFin regulated leasing entity with a €1 billion rail and aviation asset portfolio to a third party as CFO.

Dr. Eckey started his career in the investment bank division of Goldman Sachs, focusing on M&A and ECM transactions. He has worked with clients across various industries, including financial institutions, corporates and private equity.

Dr. Eckey earned a diploma degree in business administration from the University of Mannheim and a PhD from the European Business School. He regularly authors publications on topics related to finance, ESG and family businesses. Dr. Eckey is fluent in German, English and conversational French.
