Emily Edwards is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Atlanta. 

Ms. Edwards has almost 10 years of experience advising clients on various aspects of state and local tax planning, with a particular focus on large corporate transformations, bankruptcy, and distressed transactions.

Ms. Edwards works with clients across a broad range of industries, including retail, technology, manufacturing, banking, and energy. She helps businesses navigate the complex landscape of multistate income, franchise, sales and use, and property tax matters. Her expertise includes nexus and apportionment issues, legal entity rationalization, and tax structuring. Ms. Edwards also has significant experience advising clients on the state tax impacts of restructuring transactions and bankruptcy proceedings, including tax attribute modeling and tax claims resolution.

Ms. Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, a JD from Georgia State University College of Law, and an MBA from Georgia State University Robinson College of Business. She is a licensed attorney and a member of the Georgia Bar. Ms. Edwards is a former member of the United States Fencing Association’s national team and represented the US at international competitions, including the 2004 Olympics.
