UAB’s Leadership Fosters Innovation to Address Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity

Selwyn Vickers, M.D., FACS, Senior Vice President for Medicine, Dean and Chief Executive Officer of UAB Health System joins A&M Healthcare Industry Group’s Senior Advisor, David Shulkin, M.D., and Managing Director, Larry Kaiser, M.D., FACS to share how he is evolving his academic mission and vision. His mission is full steam ahead, with plans to become a preferred academic medical center for the 21st century through strategy and innovation ​to propel the organization forward. Under Dr. Vicker’s leadership, UAB Health System was already named the number one employer in America by Forbes.

His mission also includes a significant focus on diversity, inclusion and equity. He is dedicated to implementing diversity of excellence through equity, leveraging differences of experience and opinions to drive different thought processes and solutions.
